Greek cooking has always been synonymous with generosity, hospitality and shared feasts, which is what Alpha Restaurant is all about.
Our menu, by acclaimed chef Peter Conistis, nods to both traditional and contemporary Greek cooking. Here you’ll find touches of the culinary creativity for which he is renowned together with a host of rustic, seasonal dishes, many of which are cooked in our wood-fired oven.
The restaurant occupies an historic Victorian building in the heart of the CBD, which is also home to the Hellenic Club. The club’s Elizabeth Street venue opened in the late 1950s as a meeting place for migrants, shopkeepers and businesses and a centre of Greek culture.
Designed by DS17’s Paul Papadopoulos, Alpha’s dining room take inspiration from the Greek islands with whitewashed walls, earthy tones, feature lamps resembling fishing nets and a sandstone wall engraved with letters of the Greek alphabet. Our private dining room seats up to 32 guests.
Our foodstore is located on the Castlereagh Street frontage. Beta Bar and Gallery Sydney is upstairs on the first floor.
